Govee Neon Rope Light 2

This was my first rope light purchase, and it exceeded my expectations.

Installation can be challenging depending on the complexity of the shape. At first, I attempted to create the Josh Allen, Bills "potato logo" but didn't have a great location to hang it. Ultimately, I decided to create the "Rebel Alliance" logo and mount it to the front of my Star Wars-themed bar. It took me a few hours to create and attach it, but I'm happy with the outcome!

The fun part was defining the light colors and animation patterns. The Govee mobile app is quite good, allowing you to map custom shapes and completely customize the colors and animations.

It's a great product, but a couple of things would make it even better:
• Include a few more bendable mounting brackets.
• Use a "less sticky" tape on the mounting brackets to easily reposition them.

This light type adds a great experience to all different kinds of movies and music and are almost hypnotizing to watch. The colors run flawlessly and are fully customizable. You are easily able to pair these rope lights with a device like Alexa or Google and choose a light mode that best suits you. This is a must have especially if you're hesitant on getting LED light strips.

These are the first Govee products I've gotten, but I have LiFX, Feit, and a few other lesser known brands at my house and I work with professional brands like Chauvet, Color Kinetics, and PreciseLED at work on a daily basis. As someone who has a lot of experience working with a LOT of different types of lighting and controls, I am truly impressed with this Neon Rope Light. The flexibility is so much better than most others, the colors are vibrant, and the control options are very powerful. With this product specifically, one of the things I love most is that you can capture the shape you create with the lights in the app and customize the colors using your shape as a reference.

Wow, quality! It's not a light "strip" - it's a light "ribbon" because the material is thick rubber. The light is continuous throughout the ribbon, smooth and solid. The light itself is in a tubular structure (round), and the rubber strip attached to it is rectangular and has a flat surface to attach to the wall hardware. It's designed to make shapes on your wall.

It comes with many metal attachment clips that can be screwed in, or you can just use the adhesive tape already on the clips. I plan to go the adhesive route.

MATTER TIP: When you plug it in, and you have a newer Android device, a pop-up will appear on your phone to use Matter to add it to Google Home (it may be similar on iOS). The QR code is on the cord near the controller. My first attempt failed. So, I reset the ribbon - hold down POWER and tap the button under power (scene button) four times. Then, I did it again, and Matter worked (be patient).

The GOVEE app can be used alongside Google Home. Frankly, the Govee app has a lot more controls. Get it.

Ok, I'll be honest. I haven't mounted this yet. I need to think about it. I have to get the creative juices flowing!
